NaPoWriMo 17: Ferris Wheel

How long has that painting been hanging there, watching over the hearth?
The one with the autumn trees and the carnival.
Did it observe my childhood and The tears, fears and cheers of growing up?
Sometimes, I wish I could jump into it.
Experience the sights, sounds and smells of the past.
I long to ride that ferris wheel, with its hundreds of twinkling lights.
I yearn to taste the sweet cotton candy and buttery popcorn.
And I want to run alongside the children, racing to the carousel.
I wish to live in that care-free painting.
And relive my youth with new eyes.
Can't I at least dream?
