A Recycled Quilt

We're a quilt, you and I.
Individual fabrics, sown together.
Used and loved for a period of time.
Our stitches strong, yet temporary.
Then our maker decides we're too worn.
Plucks the stitches from the quilt.
Unravels the ends and separates us.
We're to be recycled into something new.
But I don't want to be divided.
I cherish our current pattern and design.
And long to preserve what we have.
